Why Jesus Came
The eternal Son of God became human to save sinners, defeat death, and bring us back to God. Jesus is not merely a teacher, prophet, or religious leader. He is God the Son, the Savior we need and the Lord we are called to follow.
Jesus Is God the Son
Jesus did not begin to exist when He was born in Bethlehem. He has always existed with the Father and is fully God.
The eternal Son entered the world He created. He became truly human without ceasing to be God.
Jesus came near so that we could know what God is like. He revealed God’s character, taught God’s truth, and carried out God’s plan to save sinners.
Sin Separates Us from God
Our greatest problem is sin. Sin is more than making mistakes. It is rejecting God’s rightful rule and choosing our own way.
Sin corrupts our desires, harms others, separates us from God, and brings death. No amount of good behavior, religious activity, or sincere effort can remove our guilt. We cannot rescue ourselves.
Jesus came because we needed a Savior.
Jesus Accomplished Our Salvation
He lived the life we failed to live. Jesus never sinned. He loved the Father, obeyed Him perfectly, and fulfilled the righteousness God requires.
He died the death our sins deserved. On the cross, Jesus willingly stood in the place of sinners and bore God’s judgment against sin.
He rose bodily from the grave. Jesus truly died, but death could not hold Him.
His resurrection declares His victory over sin and death. Jesus is alive and reigning, and everyone who belongs to Him has the certain hope of resurrection and eternal life.
Salvation Is a Gift of Grace
We are not saved because we become good enough. Salvation is God’s gift, received by trusting in Jesus Christ and His finished work.
Through Christ, believers receive forgiveness and peace with God. This peace is not merely a calm feeling. It means that our guilt is removed and our broken relationship with God is restored.
God adopts believers as His children and gives them the Holy Spirit. The Spirit lives within them, helps them understand God’s truth, strengthens them to resist sin, and produces growing obedience.
Christ does not promise an easy or prosperous life. His followers still face temptation, suffering, and hardship. But they are no longer condemned or abandoned. God is with them, changes them by His grace, and will bring them safely into everlasting life.
Respond with Repentance and Faith
Jesus has done everything necessary to save sinners. We cannot add to His work, but we must respond to Him.
Repentance means turning away from sin and returning to God. It does not mean making yourself worthy before coming to Christ.
Faith means relying on Jesus alone—His death and resurrection—as your only hope of forgiveness and acceptance with God.
Those who trust Jesus receive Him as Savior and submit to Him as Lord. Their obedience does not earn salvation. Instead, obedience grows from salvation as God’s grace changes their hearts.
Christians still stumble and must continue confessing and turning from sin. Spiritual growth is not instant perfection. It is a lifelong work of God in those who keep trusting and following Christ.
Remember This
Jesus Christ came to save sinners who could not save themselves. Rest in what He has done, turn from your sin, and follow Him each day in the strength of His grace.
