The Trinity: One God, Three Persons-Understanding how God the Father, Son, and Spirit relate to you

The Trinity

1. God Is One

The Bible teaches two truths that stand side by side:

  1. There is one God.
“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.”— Deut. 6:4
  1. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are each fully God.

Christians do not believe in three gods—but one God who exists in three persons.

This is not something we can fully grasp, and that’s okay. If we could completely understand God, He wouldn’t be God.

2. God Is Knowable—But Never Fully Comprehended

You can know God truly because He reveals Himself. But you cannot know Him completely, because He is infinite.

A helpful picture is the ocean:

God is like that—real, close, knowable, but always greater than your mind.

We are invited to know Him, trust Him, and walk with Him—while remembering He will always be deeper than we can imagine.

3. The Father, the Son, and the Spirit Work Together in Everything God Does

Three persons, one God, one rescue mission.

4. The Trinity Shows Us That God Is Personal and Relational

One of the most comforting parts of the Trinity is this:

God has always existed in loving relationship—Father, Son, and Spirit.

This means God did not become loving when He made the world. God has always been loving.

And the amazing truth is: He invites you into that love.

Jesus said, “Whoever loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him.” —John 14:21

The Trinity means the God who saves you is not distant or cold—He is personal, relational, and welcoming.

5. The Trinity Helps Us Understand How God Works in Our Lives

Even though there is one God, He works toward us in different ways:

Jesus highlights this in one simple verse:

“Because of Him you are in Christ Jesus.”— 1 Corinthians 1:30

God works as Father, Son, and Spirit so that you can know Him, follow Him, and experience His presence.

6. You have a Father who loves you deeply.

Not three gods. Not three parts of God. One God who invites you into His life.

You can know Him truly, even if you cannot explain Him fully.

This is why Christians worship with joy:

“Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God!”— Romans 11:33
