<p class="lead">Jesus is the Light who reveals God, exposes darkness, gives life, and leads us in truth.</p>

<p>The Bible often describes sin and separation from God as darkness. In darkness, we cannot see clearly or find our own way to God.</p>

<p>Jesus said:</p>
  <div class="scripture">
    “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
    <span class="ref">—John 8:12</span>
  </div>

<p>Jesus is not simply someone who points us toward the light. He is the Light.</p>

<h2>The Light Has Come</h2>

<p>John describes Jesus this way:</p>

    “In him was life, and the life was the light of men.”
    <span class="ref">—John 1:4</span>
  </div>

<p>Jesus came to show us what God is like. In His holiness, compassion, truth, and grace, we see the character of God.</p>

<div class="scripture">
    “Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.”
    <span class="ref">—John 14:9</span>
  </div>

<p>Jesus’ light shines especially clearly through His death and resurrection. On the cross, He bore the judgment our sins deserved. In His resurrection, He defeated death and opened the way to eternal life.</p>

    “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
    <span class="ref">—John 1:5</span>
  </div>

<p>The darkness opposed Jesus, but it could not defeat Him.</p>

<h2>The Light Exposes Our Sin</h2>

<p>Light reveals what is really there. Jesus shows us both the holiness of God and the truth about ourselves.</p>

<p>Our instinct is often to hide our sin, excuse it, or minimize it. But Jesus already knows us completely.</p>

    “Everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed.”
    <span class="ref">—John 3:20</span>

<p>Coming into the light means becoming honest before God. We do not have to pretend. We can confess our sins because Jesus offers forgiveness and cleansing.</p>

<p>His light does not expose us merely to condemn us. It exposes what is wrong so that He can restore us.</p>

<h2>Following Jesus in the Light</h2>

<p>Jesus said:</p>

    “I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.”
    <span class="ref">—John 12:46</span>
  </div>

<p>Following Jesus means trusting Him to lead us. We no longer allow our desires, culture, or other people to decide what is true. Christ and His Word become our guide.</p>

    “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
    <span class="ref">—Psalm 119:105</span>
  </div>

<p>God may not show us everything ahead of us. Often, He gives enough light for the next step of faith and obedience.</p>

<p>When you are uncertain, begin with what God has already made clear in Scripture. Pray for wisdom, obey what you know, and trust Him with what you cannot yet see.</p>

<h2>Living as Children of Light</h2>

<p>Those who belong to Jesus are called to live differently.</p>

    “At one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.”
    <span class="ref">—Ephesians 5:8</span>
  </div>

<p>Walking in the light means bringing every area of life under Christ’s rule. It means choosing truth instead of deception, purity instead of hidden sin, forgiveness instead of bitterness, and love instead of selfishness.</p>

<p>We will not do this perfectly. When we sin, we should not hide from God. We confess and return to Him.</p>

    “If we walk in the light, as he is in the light…the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.”
    <span class="ref">—1 John 1:7</span>
  </div>

<p>The Christian life is not pretending that we never fail. It is learning to live honestly before God and continually depend on Christ.</p>

<h2>Reflecting His Light</h2>

<p>Jesus told His followers:</p>

    “You are the light of the world.”
    <span class="ref">—Matthew 5:14</span>
  </div>

<p>Jesus is the true Light, and Christians are called to reflect Him.</p>

<p>We shine when we speak truth with love, forgive others, serve people in need, resist sin, and share the hope we have in Christ.</p>

    “Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
    <span class="ref">—Matthew 5:16</span>
  </div>

<p>Our purpose is not to draw attention to ourselves, but to help others see the goodness of God.</p>

<h2>What We Are Called to Do</h2>

    <li>Trust Jesus to save and guide us.</li>
    <li>Turn from sin and live in His light.</li>
    <li>Let Scripture guide our choices.</li>
    <li>Confess quickly when we fail.</li>
    <li>Reflect Christ through lives of truth, love, and obedience.</li>
